Rosso del Conte 2010 - DOC Contea di Sclafani, a selection of Nero d’Avola, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Fran. Introduced in 1970, “Rosso del Conte” was the first Sicilian wine to be internationally recognized as one of the best vintage red wines of Italy. Created by Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita, a passionate and tenacious man, it is the fullest expression of the Regaleali wine estate, located among the hills in the inland heart of Sicily.
2010 was an ultimate vintage for grape growing, starting with a good quantity of rain during the winter months, refilling the water reserves that are fundamental for the development of vines in a Mediterranean climate. During the spring and summer seasons the weather was cool and there were none of the extreme hot spells that sometimes occur in Sicily. The lack of rain during maturation guaranteed excellent, healthy grapes. The red grapes matured perfectly, without excessive concentration and with great balance. This vintage will be remembered for the longevity of its wines.
