A timeline lasting 10 years, a tasting organized by the Italian Federation of Sommelier, Eastern Sicily. From the 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 to the 2014 preview, presented by Giuseppe Tasca e Daniela Scrobogna. At the Four points by Sheraton in Catania Thursday, March 9th. The San Francesco vineyard represents the constant dedication to research and innovation. At the beginning of the Eighties, when Sicily barely showed a defined wine identity, Lucio Tasca d’Almerita had the intuition to plant the most internationally widespread varieties, to find a common denominator and compete with the biggest wine producers. The local varieties were still unknown: it was imperative to start from the territory. Thereafter, keeping his plan hidden from his father, he planted the first 100 vines of the Cabernet and Chardonnay varieties. After waiting four years, he made the first wines from those grapes, and understood that he was on the right track.
