As the first-born of the Estate’s wines, for 59 vintages it has told the story of the hills where Nero d’Avola is produced. The right harvesting time is chosen in order to guarantee elegance and the right balance between austerity and fullness. Aged in large Slavonian oak casks, 30 and 60 hl.
Despite its long history, the Nero d'Avola grape has only become widely known and loved in recent years; now, this native Sicilian variety has reached great heights all over Italy and the world. Passion and dedication lie behind our red monovarietal, starting with the low yields in the vineyard which guarantee a high-quality vintage of notable concentration. By ageing it partly in wood and parly in steel vats, we can supplement the fresh fruity notes of a young wine with elegant spices and liquorice which bode very well for further maturing.
